Stir Up (Part 7): God Is Not Late

Episode Summary

Where did life come from? Science keeps searching, but every answer that leaves God out eventually hits the same dead end. If there is no Creator, there is no satisfying explanation for how life began. The Bible does not leave us guessing. It points to a God who is sovereign over time, patient with people, and faithful to every promise He has made. The Apostle Peter wrote to a church that was wrestling with doubt. Scoffers in his day were asking why Christ had not yet returned, using the passage of time as evidence that He never would. Peter's response in 2 Peter 3 does not offer a date or a countdown. Instead, it calls believers to understand something more foundational about the nature of God Himself. Peter makes three powerful points. God is not bound by time the way we are. He is the eternal I AM, the same yesterday, today, and forever, and what feels like an eternity to us is nothing from His perspective. His apparent delay is not slowness but patience. He is intentionally allowing time to pass so that more people have the opportunity to repent and come to Him. And the day of the Lord is coming suddenly and without warning, like a thief in the night, which means the right response is not prediction but preparation. Throughout history, over 90 documented predictions about the return of Christ have been made between 1844 and 2011 alone, and every single one has failed. The failure of human predictions is not the failure of God's promise. God is not late. He is always exactly on time. The prophet Habakkuk shows us what it looks like to wait on God well. He stationed himself at his post, asked hard questions, and received not a date but a posture: live by faith, wait for the vision, and trust that it will not be late. Topics covered include the origin of life and creation, the return of Jesus Christ and end times, 2 Peter 3 Bible study, God's patience and grace, repentance and salvation, the Day of the Lord, Habakkuk and waiting on God, failed rapture predictions, living by faith, and how to understand God's timing. Whether you are exploring faith for the first time or looking to go deeper in your walk with Christ, these are questions worth sitting with. God is patient. God is on time. And God is coming.
